They say the third time’s a charm, but here’s an example of how you can get it right all three times! Meet Nicole, Erica and Jaclyn Dahm, touted to be the most beautiful triplets in the world. If that doesn’t ring a bell, maybe the Playmates who graced the centerfold of the Playboy 1998 issue would? Or the gorgeous triplets from Boy Meets World? Or hey, the triplets whose DNA test and simultaneous pregnancies were all over the news?
The Early Years
The Dahm Triplets, as they are widely referred to, are Minnesota-based identical triplets. Often receiving attention for their stunning looks throughout their growing years, the triplets initially intended to enter the nursing profession, enrolling at the University of Minnesota after finishing high school at one of Jordan’s public schools.
Not only were the triplets identical; they were also inseparable in all aspects, from wearing the same clothes to playing with the same toys to even having the same friends. In fact, so similar were the physical and mental characteristics that even their parents and elder sister, Lisa, couldn’t tell them apart at times! The triplets have stated in several interviews that their parents had to resort to marking them with special dots on their bottoms as soon as they were born to be able to differentiate among the three!
Gaining a collective identity due to their similarities and inseparability (often known as “You Three” or “The Triplets”), the triplets’ drop-dead gorgeous looks, especially their long blonde hair and striking blue eyes, soon caught the attention of friends as well as modeling agents and not just because they came from a town of merely 2,000 residents. This recognition soon led to the triplets hitting the cover page Teen magazine while they were just 16 and before anyone knew it, the girls were the next biggest thing to happen to Playboy after Dorothy Stratton!
The Beginning of a Long Career
The triplets have stated that it was their dad who persuaded them to audition for the project; something they must have been highly grateful for given the boost their career received post the project!
The casting agents at Playboy recognized the allure that the triplets carried and the potential they had to draw the crowd, quickly leading to test shoots and the eventual gracing of the centerfold spread in the Girls of the Big Ten December 1998 Playboy issue. This made them the first triplets to ever be in a Playboy monthly centerfold and only the second set of triplets to be featured in the magazine (after the Amazing Brazilian triplets); an achievement they never expected.
Though they did appear in several more issues of the best-selling magazine, they only appeared once on its cover – in the June 1999 edition of Playboy Australia.
The Playboy spread opened up doors, windows and everything else for the Dahm triplets like nothing before! The sisters switched career paths and chose to go into entertainment full-time, receiving several offers to play the gorgeous and unattainable triplets, such as in the Boy Meets World episode “The Honeymoon is Over” (1999), appearances on Family Feud with their sister and father (winning $10,000!), Renovate My Family (the Jay-McGraw-hosted Fox reality show), House Wars (which they also ended up winning) and in the concluding weeks of NBC’s 1 vs 100 as mob regulars.
They have also appeared in a few episodes of the CBS-distributed talk show The Doctors, reuniting with Jay McGraw to talk about various aspects of being triplets, such as their health, life experiences, fertility, simultaneous pregnancies and motherhood (2009-2010).
The triplets appeared on The Doctors again in 2017 after the show’s producers called the sisters and invited them to be part of an exciting new concept on the show. This concept was in collaboration with Inside Edition journalist Lisa Guerrero and would have the triplets undergoing two DNA tests (one for DNA and one for their ancestral country of origin) and revealing its results on the show to check the reliability of home DNA ancestry tests (the saliva test).
Considering that they were triplets, everyone expected their DNA and heritage to be identical; though the first DNA test confirmed their identical nature, their heritage test produced mixed results with each sister having a different racial mix, leading to a lot of surprise and confusion for the sisters and the world alike! This was later put down to the tests’ inability, at this stage, to be 100% accurate.
The triplets have also appeared on an episode of Canadian television show Relic Hunter.
Conquering the Internet
The triplets also started another website, this one focused on cooking, called Triplets Gourmet. Though this website met with the same fate as their previous one, their YouTube channel of the same name is still active, despite containing only one video (posted in 2008) featuring a bunch of recipes and the advantages of freezing gourmet food.
With their various endeavors in different fields, some sources estimate the Dahm triplets’ net worth to be as much as $12.5 million as of 2020.
Jay McGraw noticed Erica, the middle Dahm sister, after the family won the episode of House Wars they participated in, which McGraw hosted. The two eventually fell in love, leading to their marriage in 2006 and the birth of their daughter in 2010 and their son in 2011. Despite rumors of a divorce between McGraw and Erica, the couple is still very much in love and going quite strong!
Nicole married Michael Kelly, with the couple’s daughter being born in 2010 and their son in 2012. The youngest sister, Jaclyn, married Billy Dolan, giving birth to their daughter in 2010 and their son in 2013.
In recent years, it would seem that the triplets’ careers have taken a backseat and their family lives have become a priority. Though all three have an active presence on social media, they mostly post pictures and videos of their children, family vacations and friends. The triplets have stated that they are quite content with life as it is and do not intend to return to a career either in modeling or the entertainment industry any time soon.
- Nicole Dahm loves animals, owning several cats and dogs.
- Nicole has two tattoos, while Erica has one and Jaclyn has none.
- Erica and Nicole are so alike that the former can open up the latter’s safe with her fingerprints! Triplets – 1; technology – 0!
- Jay McGraw gave Erica a diamond-studded ring with two emeralds wrought in five-carat platinum when he proposed to her (and here, most of us can only dream of the “D” in diamond. Sigh!)
- Jaclyn and Billy love beach trips with their kids or going to fun concerts.
