David Bromstad’s Career
David got placed at Walt Disney World in Orlando right after completing his schooling at Ringling College of Art, as was always his dream. He created some amazing illustrations for Disney, Universal Studios as well as the Island of Adventure. Many of these installations have been and are still major attractions for people all over the world.
While on leave from Disney, David founded and launched his own company, Bromstad Studio. The Studio aimed to design fantasy bedrooms for kids. In 2006, at the persistent urging of a friend, David participated in the debut season of the HGTV’s show Design Star. Design Star was a reality show by HGTV to select a new host for their upcoming new show on the HGTV network. David was up against nine other talented designers, and he defeated them all to take home the grand prize that included a car and the right to host his own show on the HGTV cable network. He launched his own show on HGTV in March 2007 and named it Color Splash. David was the host and the designer of the show that transformed dull and boring rooms into vibrant, bright and colorful spaces. The show saw more than a hundred episodes aired all over the country including Miami, New York and San Francisco.
David appeared as a guest judge several times in the subsequent seasons of HGTV’s Design Star. While he was a guest judge in the first episode of the second season, he also took on the role of a mentor-cum-supporter for the finalists of the season.
Currently, Bromstad hosts Design Star, Beach Flip, and My Lottery Dream Home. All these shows are part of the HGTV network and air on its channel. He has been the host of My Lottery Dream Home since the year 2015. As the name suggests, quite literally, the reality show assists the winners of the lottery to find their dream property.

In an interview in 2012, David officially revealed his sexuality and declared his relationship with his boyfriend, whom he had been living with for eight years. He dated a man named Jeffrey Glasko for eleven years from 2004 to 2015, but that relationship saw an ugly end. Jeffrey also filed a lawsuit against David alleging emotional and financial harassment. He claimed that David suffered from a drug and alcohol abuse problem too. David, however, managed to win the lawsuit.
After his unpleasant breakup with Jeffrey, David hasn’t been very active in the dating scene. He is, however, enjoying his personal and professional life, as can be seen from his regular social media updates.
