About Stephanie Hayden
Hayden was born to Rachel and Will Hayden in Lousiana in the 1980s, but no actual date of birth is known. She has a younger sister from her father’s second wife. Her father owned the firearms company Red Jacket Firearms LLC which sells customized firearms to private collectors, security firms and even law enforcement. There is no information about Hayden’s education, but anyone who has watched the show (Sons of Guns) knows she is articulate and well informed.
Hayden came into limelight with reality show Sons of Guns on Discovery Channel that successfully ran between 2011 and 2014. The show centered around everyday working at her father’s company Red Jacket Firearms LLC. The show focused on how customizations were made and restored for historical weaponry. The show because so popular that its duration was increased by 30 minutes. The show featured popular celebrities endorsing the Second Amendment and the American gun culture.
Hayden had been around guns since she was a toddler, so it was only natural that she would have an interest in them while growing up. According to some reports, her father a former Marine taught her how to use a gun when she was just 5. Right after she finished her education, she joined her father’s company and started helping out with the business. Later, she helped her father making Sons of Guns a popular show. Some reports claim that she started out working at her father’s firm when she turned 18 and initially did not want to work there since she was already gainfully employed elsewhere. But on her father’s insistence, she reluctantly joined the company.
Relationships
Hayden was earlier married to William Scott with whom she has a son, though not much is known about how long they were married for or what was the reason for their divorce.
In 2008, Hayden met Kris Ford at a party. Ford claims that though he came from a family of hunters and “gun nuts”, he was never interested in firearms. But Ford was looking for a job around the time and Hayden offered him one at her father’s company. Ford started as a sweeper at the company, but soon showed a keen interest in guns. Soon he was learning how to work on guns from the proprietor. Meanwhile, his relationship with Hayden grew and the two got married shortly after. Later on, Ford would go on to work as a production manager and firearms expert in the company. Hayden has two children with Ford.
Trouble Brews
In August 2014, East Baton Rogue’s Sheriff Department arrested Hayden’s father on the charges of aggravated crimes and rape. Shortly after, other charges were added to the original ones. Within weeks, Sons of Guns was canceled and Will was sent to prison. He maintained that the charges were false. It was later revealed that the accuser was no other than the mother of his other 12-year-old daughter.
Initially, Hayden defended her father. Later, she claimed that she had made a statement supporting her father under duress. But soon she informed the media that she was molested by her father when she was 12. This seems to have opened the floodgates and soon, many other women came out to accuse her father of rape and sexual advances. A few months later, she appeared on an episode of Dr. Phil, where she defended her sister’s decision to come out and speak and also added that the episode with her father changed her and she started carrying knives around. According to several sources, Hayden collapsed and fainted seconds after the episode.
But the troubles didn’t end there. Shortly after the show was canceled, Hayden and her husband were arrested and taken into custody under charges that were not related to their father. The case came to light when the father of Hayden’s first child noticed a large bruise on his body. On questioning, the kid revealed that his stepfather had hit him with a large leather belt. The father of the child immediately reported the incident and as a result, Ford was arrested on charges of cruelty to juveniles.
Subsequently, Hayden was also arrested on charges of principle to cruelty to juvenile because it was alleged that she just stood by while the incident unfolded. But as luck would have it, the charges were dropped within a few weeks. It was said that no evidence suggested that an incident like that ever happened.
Following the incident, Hayden and her husband decided to stay away from the limelight, cameras and action.
Later Years
After the dust settled a little bit, Hayden and her husband started concentrating on their new venture, IAC Wargames, which is an Aerosoft range. They also have another venture called Ford Guns which is taken care of by her husband’s father.
Transgender Confusion
When you type her name in a search engine, several websites pop up with an initial bio on her which claims that she was a man before she started working with her father. These are not only misleading but not true at all. Most of the biographers seem to be confused between her and her namesake who is a London-based lawyer and current affairs commentator. The confusion seems to exist because this Stephanie Hayden, who is a man but identifies as a woman, was abused in an online forum and is s prominent speaker on transgender rights.
